Refuge — A Deep Connection with Nature

The Refuge is a project of houses located on top of a mountain in Blumenau, Santa Catarina. Set in lush terrain, surrounded by dense vegetation, the project was developed with the premise of causing the least possible environmental impact. This careful approach resulted in an innovative concept that combines contemporary architecture and absolute respect for nature.

The Refuge's main solution was the creation of a single access road, on which the houses are positioned. This decision reduced land occupancy, minimizing interference with existing vegetation. In addition, by elevating the houses over the path, it was possible to eliminate the presence of streets in the front or back of the buildings, providing a unique sense of integration with the landscape. The result is a series of houses that seem to float in the middle of the forest, evoking the lightness and charm of “tree houses”.

The interaction with nature is the central point of this project. Existing trees surround each house, creating an environment of tranquility and harmony. This deployment not only preserves the land, but also offers residents a life experience that is deeply connected to the natural environment. The wide views, the carefully planned spaces and the feeling of being immersed in the landscape make the Refuge an example of how architecture can be both innovative and sustainable.

The Refuge is a clear demonstration of Alencar Possible Futures commitment to creating solutions that respect the environment while providing living experiences that value well-being and connection with nature. This project celebrates the balance between construction and preservation, transforming the act of living into a unique and unforgettable experience.
