Villa Max Hering — Contemporary Intervention in Dialogue with Heritage
Villa Max Hering is a residential project located in Blumenau, a city in the Itajaí Valley marked by its mountains and cultural heritages. This project celebrates the connection between contemporary architecture and historical heritage, while respecting and integrating the traditional listed house of cultural importance that gives the project its name.
The central concept is the construction of three residential towers that simulate the region's mountains, staggered in all directions. The towers are surrounded by abundant vegetation, creating an appearance of green mountains that delicately embrace the tumbled house. This respectful approach seeks to value cultural heritage while offering contemporary housing that reflects the best of Blumenau: quality of life and connection with nature.
The intervention was carefully designed to respect the cultural heritage of the city, where many listed houses have not yet received adequate interventions. The project combines architectural innovation with a deep respect for the historic environment, creating a balance between old and new. With this, Villa Max Hering becomes an example of how it is possible to condense urban areas in a sustainable and culturally conscious way.
This project reflects the principles of the office's manifesto, promoting spaces that are relevant and aligned with the future we want to build. The integration of vegetation, sustainability and respect for historical memory makes Villa Max Hering a reference in urban interventions that value the city and its history.
